This (not very often updated) blog is about the publishing business in general and newspapers in detail. How can the challenges for the newspaper publishing industry be tackled? A new mind set, new journalistic and business approaches, strategies and skill sets are needed in order to play the same important role in society as it has done in the past years.

My name is Dietmar Schantin and I am the founder of the Institute for Media Strategies, an international research and consultancy organisation for the media industry. Before that, i was responsible for the the Business unit “Editorial, Advertising and General Management” and the Newsplex initiative at WAN-IFRA.
